Weeping Songs #21 // I feel like expressing sadness is a childish gesture.
So, I thought it was time to post something a bit more personal for a change. And this is about as personal as it gets for me. So, there’s this condition called Hypodontia, which I’ve had since birth. Basically, I have less teeth than I should (I’ve got 14 teeth, out of the recommended 26/28?). Now that might not sound too awful, but until you have your teeth knocked out or something, you probably won’t understand the issues that come with it, such as bullying, having to wear dentures at the age of 6, having the most ridiculous lisp just because of the retainer you’ve worn for years. I just want to make it clear that I am not after pity, but understanding. When I go out in public to eat, I get a lot of funny/disgusted looks when I take my retainer out to eat. Naturally that would make anyone uncomfortable with eating in public as it goes. But people jump to presumptions because of my lack of teeth that annoy me a lot such as “Oh, she’s obviously really unhealthy if her teeth have dropped out”. No, they haven’t dropped out, they were never there. Unhealthy? I think not :) Basically, all I wanted to put out there by posting this is that yes, I don’t have many teeth, but no, I don’t think that’s something that should bother you. I manage to disguise pretty well with my retainer that you can see above anyway, but I thought I’d let you guys know about my biggest insecurity, and hopefully anyone that has similar issues can accept it. On the plus side, I’m undergoing surgery next year to get teeth implants. This for me is a massive ordeal, as I’ve been brought up going to the dental hospital monthly being prepared for this surgery since I was 2. So, I know this condition is rare, but to anyone else that is dealing with it, I just want you to know that all of the pain, and stress that you go through is worth it in the end, and if anyone wants to talk to me about it, I’m open to have a conversation with any of you. Personally, I don’t know anyone else with the same condition, so it’d be nice to know I’m not the only one :)
Wow I completely forgot about this post
if someone gave this to me i would die
I can definitely recommend, ladies cut your hair short in summer. Feel the breeze on your naked head
